Step 2. Add the dry ingredients to the bowl with the wet ingredients. Stir to combine.

    Substitutions

    • Fruit - you could swap the pears for finely diced peaches or grated carrot.
    • Gluten-free - you could use a gluten-free flour instead of regular flour or you could grind up gluten-free oats into a flour.
    • Sweeter - you can add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup if you would like to make these a little sweeter

    Storage

You can store the muffins in an air tight container in the fridge for about 5-7 days, or you can store them in the freezer for up to a month. Let the muffins cool first before storing and line an air tight container with a paper towel to soak up any excess moisture.

    Nutrition tip

If you're looking to boost the iron content for your little one you could swap in ¼ cup of iron fortified cereal for the regular flour!

    FAQ

    Are toddler muffins healthy?

Absolutely, these muffins were made with toddlers' nutrition needs in mind! This recipe has no added sugar and is high in fibre thanks to the fruit, whole oats and almond flour. They are a great option as a snack or as part of breakfast paired with some yogurt and strawberry chia jam.

Can a baby have these muffins?

These muffins are a great option for baby led weaning with your child! Babies can have muffins once they are showing signs of readiness to start solids. Remember, all babies develop on their own timelines! I love these muffins for baby-led weaning because they have no added sugar.
