When it comes to feeding toddlers, variety and exposure are key. That doesn’t mean you need elaborate meals every morning, it simply means rotating through a few balanced options so your child gets exposure different flavours, textures, and nutrients over time. Toddler appetites can really vary day-to-day, so some days they might only eat the muffin, other days there may not be a crumb left on the plate. Your role is to offer a variety of foods; their role is to decide if and how much to eat. These breakfast ideas are here to give you ideas and inspiration!

Easy No-Cook Toddler Breakfast Ideas
Mornings with toddlers can be hectic and sometimes we need ideas that don’t require any stovetops or ovens. Here are some easy no-cook breakfast ideas.
#1. Applesauce Overnight Oats

Applesauce Overnight Oats are a simple breakfast that can be made the night before, stored in the fridge, and then are ready to go the next morning! These applesauce overnight oats taste like apple pice and are full of lasting power for toddlers!
#2. Birthday Cake Overnight Oats

There’s just something about sprinkles that makes toddlers so pumped. These Birthday Cake Overnight Oats transform oatmeal into very exciting! They’re creamy, colourful, and easy to prep the night before so breakfast feels a little more exciting (and a lot less chaotic). We love serving overnight oats in these colourful Elk & Friends Mason Jars. (affiliate link)
#3. Fortified Oat Cereal with Blueberries & Hemp Hearts

This one might not win any awards for presentation, but it’s a go-to in our house and my kids absolutely love it. It comes together in under 5 minutes, which is a win on busy mornings. We de-thaw frozen blueberries, mix them into iron-fortified oat cereal with a splash of milk or water, and top it off with hemp hearts and banana slices. Simple, nourishing, and toddler-approved. Served here in the Elk & Friends stainless steel bowls. (affiliate link)
#4. Chia Pudding

Chia pudding looks fancy but couldn’t be easier. You just stir everything together, pop it in the fridge, and let it thicken for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if you want to prep ahead. My kids love it with mashed banana and a sprinkle of diced strawberries on top! Served here in the EZPZ suction placemat with bowl for toddlers. (affiliate link)
#5. Pumpkin Seed Butter Toast with Hemp Hearts and Banana

You might be wondering, why pumpkin seed butter? Well, it’s actually a source of iron, an important nutrient for toddlers. Just two tablespoons provide around 2.5 mg of iron! Pair it with a slice of whole wheat bread (which can add another ~1 mg), a sprinkle of hemp hearts (which are considered a good source of iron), and a vitamin C–rich fruit like berries or mandarins on the side to help boost iron absorption. It’s simple, balanced, and a go-to in our house for busy mornings. Note: if serving mandarin orange slices, be sure to remove the membranes as those can be tricky for little ones. For more info on serving oranges and mandarins safely, read here.
Toddler Breakfast Smoothies
#6. Chunky Monkey Smoothie
Smoothies can be a great way to include fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats, and other important nutrients, but are generally best served alongside other foods. Toddlers are still learning to manage different textures and need regular opportunities to practice chewing, so think of smoothies as a fun part of breakfast, not a full replacement for it!

This Chunky Monkey Smoothie is a regular in our house. It’s creamy, peanut butter-chocolatey, and made with simple, nourishing ingredients. It comes together in minutes!
#7. Strawberry & Peanut Butter Smoothie

This Strawberry & Peanut Butter Smoothie tastes just like the classic PB&J flavour combination! A burst of berries combined with the creaminess of peanut butter, this smoothie can be a great way to kickstart the day or have as a snack.
#8. Strawberry Calcium-Rich Smoothie for Toddlers and Kids

Smoothies can be a great way of incorporating a variety of foods and nutrients. This Strawberry Calcium-Rich Smoothie has a focus on calcium, which supports healthy bone development. It is important to note that iron is another key nutrient for toddlers, and calcium and iron can compete for absorption. This simply means we want to offer a variety of foods throughout the day and make sure other meals include iron-rich options like meat, poultry, beans, lentils, and iron-fortified foods.
Toddler Pancakes, Waffles, & French Toast Breakfast Ideas
Pancakes, waffles, and French toast are almost always a hit, and they can be more than just weekend breakfasts. I like to batch-cook a few extras and keep them in the freezer for quick, easy mornings. These recipes use simple ingredients and can be cut into strips or small pieces for little hands.
#9. Iron-Fortified French Toast with Fruit Rolled in Hemp Hearts

A nourishing twist on classic French toast! Since iron can be tricky for little ones to get enough of, I like to add a boost to recipes like this Iron-Boosted French Toast by mixing iron-fortified oat cereal right into the batter of a classic French toast recipe, along with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg for extra flavour. I serve it with fresh blueberries (flattened for younger toddlers) and mango spears rolled in hemp hearts, making them easier to grip. My daughter loves dipping hers, so sometimes I’ll serve it with a little full fat plain yogurt or Strawberry Chia Jam also goes great on top!
#10. Easiest Ever Banana Pancakes

My kids love these simple banana pancakes and I love how easy they are to make. Made with one egg, 1 cup oats, 1 banana, a dash of cinnamon and then all blended together, and cooked 3-5 minutes per side on a frying pan or griddle. I pair them with a little yogurt for dipping, and some cherries and blueberries. Cut the cherries lengthwise and flatten the blueberries.
#11. Savoury Waffles

These savoury waffles are a fun change from more sweeter tasting breakfasts and a great way to add in veggies. They’re crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and easy for little hands to hold. I like to make a batch ahead of time and keep them in the freezer, they reheat perfectly in the toaster for quick weekday mornings. You can serve as is or with some scrambled eggs or avocado!
#12. Fluffy Lemon Zest Pancakes

These are seriously the best Fluffy Lemon Zest Pancakes. Everyone in our house is a huge fan! What I especially love about them is how well they freeze. You can make a big batch on the weekend, then pop them straight from the freezer into the toaster, microwave, or oven for an easy breakfast on busy mornings. Weekdays are usually too rushed for pancakes, so having these ready to go is a total lifesaver.

Egg Breakfasts For Toddlers
Eggs are one of those easy, go-with-anything foods that work for just about any morning. They cook quickly, can be served in so many ways, and are a great base to build on with veggies, fruit, or toast.
#18. Avocado Toast with Blueberries, Scrambled Eggs, and Mango

Avocado toast served as strips or bite-sized pieces, paired with scrambled eggs and fruit makes a great breakfast for toddlers. Flatten the blueberries slightly for younger toddlers and I like to roll the mango in unsweetened shredded coconut to help with the grip.
#19. Whole Grain Toast with Peanut Butter & Hemp Hearts, Scrambled Eggs, and Fruit

Scrambled eggs paired with whole grain toast spread with a thin layer of smooth peanut butter and sprinkled with hemp hearts makes a nutrient-dense breakfast to start the day. Served here with cinnamon apples, and fresh strawberries for a little colour! You can cut the toast up into bite sized pieces or serve as strips and work on biting and tearing practice. If you’re short on time, the toast and fruit alone still make a quick, wholesome breakfast.
#20. Mini Veggie Egg Bites

These Mini Veggie Egg Bites are a go-to in our house. They’re soft, easy-to-make, and a great way to add a few extra veggies to breakfast. I usually mix in finely chopped spinach, peppers, or zucchini, whatever’s in the fridge, and bake them in a mini muffin tin. They store and freeze really well, so you can warm them up in the morning for a quick, no-fuss option. I like serving them with fruit or toast for a simple, balanced meal.
