    Instructions

Image of step 1 for cinnamon apples. Apples are peeled and sliced on wood cutting board.

    Peel and slice the apples.

Image of step 2 of cinnamon apples, melting coconut oil in non-stick pan.

Heat up a non-stick pan on medium heat and add coconut oil.

Step 3 of cinnamon apples. Adding cinnamon and vanilla to apple slices in non stick pan.

Add the cinnamon and vanilla and cook on medium to low heat.

You can leave as slices for baby led weaning or mash for a softer, chunky texture.

Hint: Because coconut oil has a lower smoke point, make sure the heat doesn't get too hot! Lower if needed.

    Substitutions

    • Other fruit - you could also add in peaches or pears and sauté those with the apple slices.

    Variations

Add a sprinkle of hemp hearts on top for an extra boost of fiber and healthy fats!

    Serving Ideas

    • Serve these mixed into some Greek yogurt for a complete snack
    • Add on top of some morning oatmeal or pancakes
    • They are also amazing at dinner with some chicken or pork chops!
    • Sprinkle some hemp hearts on top

    Equipment

You will need a medium non-stick frying pan.

    Storage

You can store the apple slices in a sealed container for 4-5 days. We love prepping these at the beginning of the week to have for lunches all week!

    FAQ

How do I prepare cinnamon apples for kids?

Apples can be introduced when a baby is ready to start solids (showing signs of readiness). You do want to prepare the apples in a safe, age appropriate way for your kids. For under the age of 1, safe, age appropriate ways include peeling and cooking, steaming or sautéing (such as in this recipe!). You can then progress the texture as your baby gets older and continue to advance the texture as their eating skills improve. For detailed information on safe textures of foods, you can check out the Solid Starts information on apples here.
