How To Make Kid-Friendly Pizza Muffins

Step 1 for healthy pizza muffins. Wet ingredients added to white bowl.

Add the olive oil, eggs, pizza sauce, and milk to a bowl and stir to combine.

Step 2 for pizza muffins. Dry ingredients added to separate bowl.

In a separate bowl, add the dry ingredients and stir to combine.

Step 3 for pizza muffins. Combine wet and dry ingredients.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Step 4, pizza toppings added into pizza mixture.

    Add in pizza mix-ins.

step 5, dough placed into muffin pan.

Spoon pizza batter into a muffin tray. Bake in the oven at 375 degrees F for 18-22 minutes.

    Substitutions

    • Flour - you can swap in whole wheat flour for all purpose, but reduce by ½ a cup and just know that the muffins may be a bit denser
    • Dairy-free - use an unflavoured plant based beverage instead of cow's milk
    • Vegetarian - you get to choose your own toppings so these can easily be vegetarian

    Equipment

    • Muffin pan

    Storage

Pizza muffins can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer for 1-2 months. When ready to eat, reheat from frozen in the microwave or oven.

    Top tip

Use muffin liners or grease your muffin pan well. Just a note that sometimes silicone liners can get a soapy test, so be sure to rinse them first with plain water.

    FAQ

Can I freeze these pizza muffins?

Yes! Just be sure to let them cool completely, then freezer in a single layer in a ziplock bag or container.

Are these muffins good for picky eaters?

While all kids are going to have different preferences, one great thing about this recipe is you can involve your child and let them choose their own toppings. This helps provide exposure to food and increases curiosity in a non-pressured way, both which can support picky eating.

Can I pack these in a lunchbox?

Yes! These muffins are perfect for school and daycare lunches and don't need to be served hot. You can pair them with some fruit and a little yogurt for a balanced, toddler- and kid-friendly lunch.
