How To Make This Kid-Friendly Tropical Smoothie
Use this section for process shots, alternating between the step and image showing the step. Users don't like seeing process shots cluttering up the recipe card, so include your process shots here.

Add all of the ingredients to a high-speed blender. I like to add the liquid closest to the blade to help everything blend more smoothly.

Blend on high speed for 25-30 seconds until creamy and smooth.
Hint: If your smoothie is too thick, you can add a splash more of coconut milk to help it blend. For a thicker smoothie, add a few extra frozen mango or pineapple chunks.
Substitutions
- Vanilla yogurt: This recipe intentionally uses vanilla yogurt because it gives the smoothie a sweeter, creamier flavour that works really well with the tropical fruit. If you prefer to use plain yogurt, you can add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and an optional 2 teaspoon maple syrup.
- Coconut milk: Full-fat coconut milk was intentionally chosen to provide a rich creaminess along with that fun tropical flavour. The smoothie is still delicious if you swap it for regular milk or a plant-based beverage, but it will lose the tropical coconut flavour.
- Chia seeds: Feel free to swap the chia seeds for hemp hearts or ground flax depending on what you have on hand.
Variations
- Add spinach: Toss in a handful of spinach for an easy way to add some greens, but be aware, the colour will turn a bit murky!
- Make smoothie popsicles: Pour the smoothie into popsicle moulds for a fun frozen snack on hot days.
- Boost the protein: Add a spoonful of nut butter or hemp hearts for extra protein and healthy fats.

Storage
This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container or mason jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Give the smoothie a good shake or stir before serving. It may thicken up more with the chia seeds. You can also freeze leftovers into popsicle moulds for an easy toddler snack later on.
Toddler Tip
Depending on your child’s age and feeding stage, you can serve this smoothie in an open cup, straw cup, reusable pouch, or even in a bowl with a spoon for a thicker smoothie-bowl style snack. Offering smoothies in different ways can help make them feel fun and engaging for little ones.
